My life's work as an educator, artist, and aspiring children's book illustrator and author celebrates the profound beauty of simplicity. I see a blank page or unprimed canvas not as empty, but as a work of art in itself, brimming with potential. My artistic process is deeply rooted in the power of the mind as my primary medium, utilizing the diverse tools of the world around me as instruments. This philosophy has evolved over time, bringing me back to my fundamental appreciation for uncluttered expression.
My primary medium is acrylic on canvas, though I plan to explore oil on canvas in the future. I've found that true meaning doesn't stem from complex visual subjects, extraneous colors, or unnecessary strokes. Instead, it resides in life's inherent simplicity. This understanding has rekindled a fearless passion, motivating me to wholeheartedly embrace and connect with what I value most.

My artistic journey began informally between 1984 and 1987, navigating the vibrant subway systems where the urban landscape served as my first unconventional canvas. After a break to complete college and graduate school in 1995, I rekindled my passion for painting in 2005. Inspired by the events of Hurricane Katrina, I found my voice, expressing joy, pain, and happiness on canvas. This pursuit of emotional intelligence eventually led to more structured artistic endeavors. From 2015 to 2017, following the joyful arrival of my son, I immersed myself in the creative atmosphere of Uptown Art, a popular paint-and-sip venue. This period allowed me to further hone my skills and explore new dimensions of my artistic voice, all while balancing the beautiful new demands of fatherhood.
